Why we're building this

A family's health history is scattered. Lab results sit in a clinic's system, prescriptions in a drawer, a photo of a discharge summary on someone's phone, vaccination cards in a folder. When a parent gets older or a child gets sick, the people who care for them end up reconstructing that history from memory, in a waiting room.

arooqa is one private place to keep it: for you, your children, your parents, and anyone whose care you look after. It is built for the person in the family who ends up holding everything together.

What arooqa does

The first release, being built now for iOS and Android.

  • Family profiles

One longitudinal history for each person you care for, from a newborn's first check-up to a grandparent's maintenance medications.

  • Health records

Measurements, medications, conditions, allergies, visits, immunizations, and care notes. Each one carries the date it happened and where the information came from.

  • Scan and keep documents

Scan a lab report, prescription, or clinic note with your phone, or import a photo or PDF. The original is kept next to any record made from it, with its text searchable on your device.

  • A timeline that tells the story

Everything in one history per person, sorted by when it actually happened rather than when you found time to enter it.

How it works

  1. Add the people you care for.

Yourself, your children, your parents, a partner, anyone whose care you help manage.

  2. Record what happens.

Scan the lab report before you leave the clinic, or type in a blood pressure reading, a new medication, a visit. The document stays attached to the record.

  3. Review before it counts.

Anything suggested from a scanned document is marked "needs review" until you confirm it. You are the source of truth, not a machine.

  4. Look back over the whole history.

On your phone, offline, whenever a doctor asks "when did this start?"

Where we are

Building now

The first release

Family profiles, health records, and the timeline, plus scanning documents with your phone's built-in camera and text recognition. All stored on your device. No account. No cloud. Works without an internet connection.

Next

Suggested records from scans

The app reads a scanned lab report or prescription and proposes a structured record. Suggestions stay on the device and are reviewed by you before they are saved.

Later, optional

Backup, sharing, devices

Encrypted backup and sync, sharing with family members, and connecting health devices. Optional means opt-in. Your local records keep working without them, and you will never lose access to your history because a subscription ends.

Principles we won't trade away

  • Stays on your phone

Your family's records live in a local database on your device. arooqa works without an account, without the internet, and without a cloud.

  • Keeps the original

Lab reports, prescriptions, and clinic notes are kept as the documents they came from. Anything derived from them points back to the source.

  • You verify, not a machine

Any information suggested from a scanned document is marked as needing review until you confirm it. Nothing becomes part of the record silently.

  • No ads, no data sales, no cloud AI

There is nothing to sell because we never receive your data. Any document reading happens on your device or not at all.
